Okay, so just a quick one... the ball team (Dare bears, remember) won our tournament on Saturday. Actually we won all five games we played! I got terribly hurt in the second game (shoulder still hurts) but I kept playing anyway (and played well, too). until next thyme! 8.13.2003
Well it's been a little teeny while since I posted... Let's see now... The church office let me go about two weeks before 3 months was up. Actually, they didn't so much let me go as wait until I left on a Friday and call the temp agency so they could tell me that it was my last day there. Nice. That was in... um... maybe March. yeah, that sounds right. After that I got a spot in Dare Foods Cost Accounting department, through a different temp agency. (after two days stuffing packages for Xerox it was a super step up) I was supposed to work one day at Dare... The cost department admired my work (and my snappy clothes) so much, they told me to come back a week after the following Monday (they were very busy that week and couldn't take the time to train anyone) for a day by day extension... They kept me there for almost two months, and started talking about a Contract (notice the capitalization). hem, haw, hem, haw, we have to wait for this to happen, we have to get that organised, so I took another job with the first agency. In purchasing (yuck) That lasted a week, and the same damn thing happened!!! Go home early today, we don't have anything for you to do. Temp agency calls me and says "it's not a good fit" I guess my round peg fits better at Dare. I called up Dare to say 'hey! hire me!' and Eileen, Cost department manager, was very happy to hear from me. 6 month contract! right to the end of November! (er... wait, that's not very good timing, what with Christmas and all, um) Oh well. better than no work. I would know. I joined up with the Dare Bears slowpitch team, and we don't suck terribly. Also I am playing pool every Tuesday in a league with my best friend, Eric. The way that works is you have a ranking (I'm a 3) which can be from 3 to 7. (2 to 7 for women) and you have a certain number of games to win to win the match. For example... I (a 3) play a 6, and I have to win 2 games by the time the 6 wins 5 games. It's not as easy as it sounds. BUT this past week I beat a 5 in 4 games, and last week I beat a 6 in 3 games!!!! Broke his perfect record too. He left. poor sportsmanship, that. anyway, it's actually been 7 (count 'em, seven) whole months since I last blogged, and it seems a lot easier to come up with stuff to say this way! I really don't know how my wife can post every day or two. So maybe in another 6 or 7 months, I will post again! 1.28.2003
Here we are, it's only Jan 28! So I sent my resume off to some headhunter. She has a good job opening for the right person. Here is where you all cross your fingers for me. I sent it to her last Wednesday or something, and haven't heard anything yet. (rrrg) I know why I don't blog very often now. I have nothing to say! hmmmm. buses suck. Kitchener/Waterloo's transit system leaves much to be desired. This is a nice place to work. I don't want to stay here, but I will if nothing else comes along. I fear a lack of advancement opportunities here. I look forward to the day when I make enough money to have some in my pocket once in a while. I don't like the cold. brrr. We should have moved in May. well, back to work.... 1.10.2003
working working working I am working as many hours as possible now, seeing as how I ain't got no dough... Dillon had an uneventful flight home, and everything is fine with him. Joshua is getting more bossy and pushy every day. I love him, but he drives me nuts. Suz's grandpa has passed, and she was a pallbearer at the funeral while Dillon was still here, so I herded kids all day, and she drove to Barrie alone. I'm still chugging away at the church office, and in something like 6 weeks they can hire me on away from the temp agency. Then maybe I'll make enough to live on. I finally received the recording. It is mixed well, the music is good, and overall, bravo, us! The singer did something weird to his voice on the first track though, sort of AM radio slight distortion sounding. I don't like it. Sheridan is doing much better at school, and actually colours whole pictures in. I think it was a matter of manual dexterity and the discomfort of having to do something he wasn't used to. There! it's not even half way through January yet! 12.28.2002
Sheesh. Christmas has come and gone, now we have Dillon, Now all the boys have a mild fever and stuffy noses, now Suz's grandfather is going to die within a couple days, now my grandmother is living with my parents, oh my. I always have so much to say when I blog every two months. It's hard to get it all in without my brain getting too far ahead of my fingers (which seem to get slower every time I type). So I didn't get into public practice, and I went to the temp agencies around town, and I found that getting a white collar job in a blue collar town is a bit of a challenge. Anyway, I got an assignment through one of the agencies at the head office of a church! A bit weird for me, not being much for religion, but that's not an issue there. I'm in accounting, not spirituality. So I haven't heard from the guys who are apparently doing the recording that I was part of in Vancouver, but maybe someday (or not, whatever) I will have a good copy of recorded music. Sheridan has improved in school as far as listening and paying attention, but he still doesn't like colouring very much. He also has a strange idea of what or who Santa Claus is. I don't really follow his explanations all the time, so don't ask me. Not much time all at once lately, so I'll try to blog again before February. |
